Technical Support Guidelines

When emailing, in order to get through our SPAM filter, we ask that you include either "PC-lint" or "FlexeLint" in your message Subject line. (Note because of our policy of providing free tech support, it may take a few days for us to respond to email inquiries, so if you have an urgent need, it's best to phone us)

If you have a question, please be specific.   If appropriate, provide us with a small program to illustrate your question.

If you think you have found a bug, in most cases we need to be able to reproduce the bug before we can fix it.  Please provide us the following:

• a small but complete code sample to show the problem.
• your lint output, or if it's massive, just the portion that illustrates the problem.
• your lint banner line (showing the version number), your lint command line, and the lint options you use.
• if you have many #include files, use lint's -p option to get preprocessed code; run that through lint to make sure you can reproduce the problem, then email us the preprocessed code.
• your name, company, address and email address 

• Please make sure that you are using our latest patch and the most current .lnt files. Binary patches and .lnt files for PC-lint and FlexeLint Version 9.00 are available for download at Version 9.00 Patches.
• If you need the fpatch program to apply FlexeLint patches, send an email to "sales"  at gimpel.com and please include your FlexeLint serial number and contact information (name, company, address, phone).  If we have your registration information and a signed license agreement on file, we will email you fpatch.c

• We will provide technical support for version 8.0 through December, 2008, but no new patches will be released.
• For information on updating, see Version 9.00.
• If you are not able to update at this time, please make sure that you are using 8.00x (which is our final patch level for Version 8.0). Binary patches for PC-lint Version 8.0 are available for download at Version 8.00 Patches.
